| Lake Champlain, the nation's sixth largest lake, sparkles along
Vermont's western border for more than 100 miles.
At the northern
end of the lake-virtually next door to Quebec-are the Champlain
Islands, an area rich in historical significance and natural history.
Isle La Motte-home to the world's oldest coral reef-is one of these
islands. In 1609, Samuel de Champlain became the first European
to see the island.
